Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) announced $413,000 in grants from its Louisiana Service & Hospitality Family Assistance Program, an initiative to support low-income restaurant, hotel, and bar employees who have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and who are working hard to support their dependent children and elderly parents.

Since the start of this pandemic, GNOF’s Disaster Response and Restoration Fund has awarded $228,000.00 to nonprofits in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany Tangipahoa, and Washington Parishes.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation hosted a 2020 Census Nonprofit Convening at the Center for Philanthropy featuring a presentation by Ashley Herad, Partnership Specialist from the U.S. Department of Commerce, and a panel discussion with Arthur C. Walton, Director of Intergovernmental Relations for the Office of Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Judy Reese Morse, President & CEO for the Urban League of Louisiana, and Janea C. Jamison, MPA, Program Manager and Census 2020 Director for The Power Coalition for Equity and Justice.

On Thursday, February 13, 2020, the Greater New Orleans Foundation, in partnership with NOLA Public Schools and funding support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Baptist Community Ministries hosted a panel discussion at the Center for Philanthropy.

The 28-page report by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, titled “New Orleans School Partnership Study: What Our Students Need and How We Can Help,” states that many youth attending local public schools continue to lag behind much of the country, not just academically but also emotionally, socially and developmentally.
