Foundation Names Devon Turner and Dan Favre as New Directors
Devon Turner joins the Foundation as Director of Nonprofit Leadership and Effectiveness. Prior to her arrival, Devon served as the Executive Director of Grow Dat Youth Farm. Dan Favre will take over as the Foundation’s Director of Environmental Programs. Dan previously served as the Executive Director of Bike Easy.

Foundation Awards $93,000 in New Grants from its LGBTQ Fund
Today, the Greater New Orleans Foundation announced $93,000 in grants to 13 area nonprofits from its LGTBQ Fund. Since its inaugural year in 2016, the Foundation’s LGBTQ fund has made over $552,000 in grants to 41 nonprofits across our region.

LGBTQ Fund Spotlight: The LGBT Community Center of New Orleans
In launching the LGBTQ Fund in 2016, the Greater New Orleans Foundation was moved by the Out in the South Report, which had been released by Funders for LGBTQ Issues a few years prior. The report shared that while the South had more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) adults than any other part of the country, the region received just 3-4% of domestic funding for LGBTQ issues. LGBTQ people in the South were also among the most likely to be experiencing poverty.

Foundation Announces $1 Million Grant to Community Lighthouse Project
The award is the Foundation’s largest single grant from its disaster response and restoration fund and will build commercial-scale solar power and back-up battery capacity for nonprofits that respond to disasters across the region.
