50 nonprofit organizations win highly competitive IMPACT grants
(New Orleans, LA | December 20, 2016) – The Greater New Orleans Foundation announced today the 50 nonprofit organizations that received 2016 IMPACT grants in the following categories: arts and culture; education; health; social services; and, youth development. Now in its eighth year, the IMPACT program is the Foundation’s largest discretionary and most competitive grantmaking program. It awards grants to organizations that serve mostly low-income communities. This year the Foundation awarded a total of $771,500 to 50 nonprofit organizations.
“The competitive IMPACT grantmaking program supports some of the most impactful nonprofit organizations in our community,” said Andy Kopplin, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “We are grateful to our generous donors, without whom this program would not be possible.”
“With thousands of individuals and families being affected by mental health issues, the need for the work of NAMI New Orleans has never been greater,” said Lisa Romback, Executive Director of NAMI New Orleans. “We are honored to receive an IMAPCT grant supporting this critical work, which ultimately bolsters our entire community.”
More than 180 applications were received and the rigorous review process included a site visit by Foundation staff, a careful study of the organization’s financial information, and a review by the Foundation’s grants committee. In addition to financial support, IMPACT grantees are also supported throughout the year with networking opportunities, communications assistance, and trainings and workshops on nonprofit best practices.
Since its inception in 2009, the IMPACT Program has granted more than $7 million to more than 150 nonprofit organizations in the Greater New Orleans region.
