National foundations continue to invest in New Orleans area as evidenced by a new partnership between the Seattle-based Marguerite Casey Foundation and the Greater New Orleans Foundation. Over the next two years, the foundations will strengthen nonprofit organizations that are working in the region’s low-income communities.
“Nonprofits abound in this community doing heroic work on so very little,” said Albert Ruesga, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “With support from the Marguerite Casey Foundation, we will identify, partner, and work with nonprofit leaders to help them strengthen their own organizations.”
Investing in leadership is oftentimes the key to the success or failure of a nonprofit organization. “We will identify and invest in those leaders. We’ll help them make their organizations more effective,” said Ruesga.
Through this effort, nonprofit leaders will learn ways to work with boards, conduct fundraising campaigns, and strengthen their communications.
The Marguerite Casey Foundation investment is $500,000 over the next two years.
