New Orleans, LA (June 16, 2014) – GiveNOLA Day, the community’s first online giving campaign that generated over two million dollars for local causes and charities in just 24 hours, will be held again next year on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from midnight to midnight.
This year’s inaugural GiveNOLA Day was held on May 6th and it shattered all goals. The result was over 19,000 gifts made to over 300 nonprofit organizations for a total of $2,256,152.
New Orleans was one of 47 cities that participated in a national day of giving called Give Local America on May 6th. New Orleans came in fourth place nationally for the most amount of money raised, behind Sarasota, Fla., Sacramento, Calif., and the Coastal Communities of South Carolina. New Orleans came in second for the total number of gifts, slightly behind San Antonio.
“Next year we’ll have the opportunity again to prove our record-breaking generosity,” said Albert Ruesga, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation.
All 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the 13 parish Greater New Orleans region are invited to participate. To receive information on registration dates for GiveNOLA Day 2015, please sign up for the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s e-newsletter here.
