Deadline for nonprofits to sign up on GiveNOLA.org is March 1, 2016
Goals set at $4,500,000 from 35,000 donations for 600 nonprofits
New Orleans, LA (February 25, 2016) – The Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) officially announces the third annual GiveNOLA Day, powered by Entergy, is a regional, 24-hour online giving day, that will take place on May 3 from midnight to midnight. Last year, GiveNOLA Day shattered its goals and raised $4 million for the 571 participating nonprofits from 34,000 donations. The Greater New Orleans Foundation is proud to announce its goals for the third annual GiveNOLA Day: $4.5 million from 35,000 donors for 600 nonprofits on May 3, 2016.
“On this day, we come together to support and salute the work of the nonprofits in our community,” said Albert Ruesga, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation and host of GiveNOLA Day. “The generosity of our region is astounding, and we look forward to helping raise $4.5 million for nonprofits throughout the region so they can continue bolstering this great community and help it thrive.”
All donations made through www.givenola.org go directly to participating nonprofits working on a broad range of issues: arts & culture, animals, community improvement, education, environment, health, housing, human services, public safety & crime, and youth development. The Greater New Orleans Foundation does not collect any fees from contributions in order for the nonprofit organizations to receive the maximum benefit.
Gifts made on GiveNOLA Day go further thanks to support from our generous sponsors, who contribute to the Lagniappe Fund, hourly prizes, and first through fifth place prizes. The Lagniappe Fund is the ‘stretch gift’ that allows each gift on GiveNOLA Day to go a little further.
“We’re excited to continue our commitment to GiveNOLA Day and to witness the region’s generosity and enthusiasm for area nonprofits,” said Charles Rice, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans.
“As a local foundation that invests in exemplary nonprofits, Baptist Community Ministries is proud to support GiveNOLA Day and to see the community come together to support the hundreds of participating nonprofits representing a variety of community needs,” said Charles Beasley, president and CEO of Baptist Community Ministries.
All 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are in good standing with the IRS, nonprofit entities that have a fiscal sponsor that is a 501(c)(3) organization in good standing with the IRS, and organizations categorized by the IRS as 509(a)(3) are eligible to participate. The organization’s service area and mailing address must be in the Greater New Orleans Foundation 13-parish region, which is: Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, and Washington.
