(New Orleans, LA | December 9, 2015) The Board of Trustees of the Greater New Orleans Foundation announced today that Dr. Albert Ruesga, president and CEO for the past seven years, will leave the Foundation on June 30, 2016.
“We are incredibly grateful for Albert’s leadership,” said Cheryl Teamer, board chair of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “Thanks to his extraordinary vision and keen intellect, the Foundation and its work have been significantly transformed.”
During his tenure, the Foundation added the Organizational Effectiveness department that has provided training and support to hundreds of nonprofits across the region; he launched GiveNOLA Day, the online, 24-hour fundraising campaign that raises millions for area nonprofits; and, he expanded the Foundation’s programmatic work in key areas such as workforce development and advocacy.
Additionally, he laid the groundwork for the Foundation to open the Center for Philanthropy in the fall of 2016.
Ruesga plans to return to consulting for foundations and not-for-profit organizations after a short hiatus.
Board Chair Cheryl Teamer will lead the search committee. The executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates has been engaged to assist. In January, the job description will be posted on the Foundation’s website, dev.gnof.org.
