(November 30, 2016 | Covington, LA) – The Greater New Orleans Foundation, in partnership with the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Northshore Chapter (AFP), hosted a Celebration of Philanthropy on “Giving Tuesday,” November 29, 2016 at Christwood Retirement Community. The event featured the 2016 AFP awards recognizing several of the Northshore’s most dedicated philanthropists, as well as inspiring remarks from Sandy Rees, a nationally recognized fundraising expert and founder of Get Fully Funded. Reese spoke about “The Two Second Difference” – delving into what would happen if everyone took two seconds each day to do something good.
Three awards were presented at this year’s event: Sue and Alan Zaunbrecher were recognized as Legacy Community Philanthropists; Rain CII was recognized as New Generation Community Philanthropist; and Greg Pellegrini and Allyson Sanderson were recognized as Outstanding Volunteers.
“Every day, our fellow citizens across the Northshore and Louisiana are giving of their time, talent, and treasure to support the causes and organizations that are making a difference in our communities,” said Kellie Chavez Greene, senior program officer at the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “We are proud to honor their commitment to creating a thriving community for all by supporting the nonprofit community.”
