Building an Evaluation Ecosystem
In summer 2018, 30 evaluation practitioners from across the Gulf Coast established a local affiliate of AEA that would provide networking, professional development, and advocacy for evaluation in our region, promoting both evaluation supply and demand. Before transitioning to a dues-paying membership model, GCEval needed to provide value to the community worthy of payment.

In 2018, as the city’s system of charter schools transitioned from state control to the oversight of the Orleans Parish School Board, the Greater New Orleans Foundation sat down with school and philanthropic leaders. The idea was to look closely at the newly unified system in an effort to determine what stood in the way of every student succeeding.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation released New Orleans School Partnership Study: What Our Students Need and How We Can Help. In partnership with NOLA Public Schools and funding support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Baptist Community Ministries, the new report identifies some of our students’ most urgent needs and a roadmap for how schools and community partners can increase resources, coordination, partnership, and investments to improve student support and performance.
