Greater New Orleans Foundation Awards $450,000 in Grants from Greater Together Fund for Racial Equity

New Orleans, LA (November 24, 2020) – Yesterday, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) announced $450,000 in grants from its new Greater Together Fund for Racial Equity. The announcement was made during a virtual event that can be viewed here.

“Two months ago during our Celebration of Black Philanthropy, our Board Chair announced the creation of the Greater New Orleans Foundation‘s Greater Together Fund for Racial Equity,” said Andy Kopplin, President & CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “The Fund will make large, sustained investments in a small number of nonprofits working to change unfair and inequitable systems and to close the racial wealth gap. In addition, the racial equity fund will provide critical sustaining support to nonprofits whose work has scalable local, regional, and even statewide impact. We are so excited to announce that our Board Grants Committee has approved the first awards from this important new fund.”

The first cohort of grantees from the Greater Together Fund for Racial Equity include the Urban League of LouisianaPower Coalition, and Good Work Network.

“These three organizations have a track record of doing impactful work to advance racial equity in our region,” said Carmen James Randolph, Vice President for Programs of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “With such a strong foundation laid for the fund, we are excited to extend its impact by opening applications for the next cohort of grantees.”
